Import Csv File

Overview

This article describes how to import a file such as CSV into a new SQL Server Table with SQL Import Studio.
SQL Import Studio can also open files from :-
  • CSV
  • TAB
  • XLS (Microsoft Excel Files)
  • MDB (Microsoft Access Database Files)

Step 1 - Open the CSV Data File

Choose the Open File Toolbar item to open the data file in SQL Import Studio.

  • Preview Data
    Select the Preview Toolbar item to Preview the Imported Data
 

Step 2 - Create SQL Database Table

Select the Choose Destination Toolbar item to open the SQL Connect dialog. Then select the SQL Server, Database and Table Name.

You can now adjust the Column Names, Data Types, Primary Key etc before the Table is created in your SQL Database.

 

Step 3 - Import the Data

Select the Import Data Toolbar item to open import dialog then press Start.
